A former Forney Jackrabbit and recent Lady Patriot alumna, Kate Bell, was honored Monday for her athletic achievements by state representative Betty Brown.

In her final season of eligibility, Bell was named to the American Southwest Conference (ASC) All-Tournament Team, 1st Team All-Conference, and 3rd Team All-Region. This season the Lady Patriots, seated 3rd in their conference, beat the East Texas Baptist Lady Tigers for the first time at the conference tournament, after falling short in preseason with a record of 0-4. This win sent the Lady Patriots to the championship where they were names the ASC Conference Champions.

The Lady Patriots advanced to regionals where they successfully beat the number one team in the nation, the Linfield Bearcats. As regional champs, the Lady Patriots qualified to be one of the eight teams out of 387 teams in Div. III to play in the Div. III College World Series Softball Tournament, where they finished fifth.

For her accomplishments, Bell was recognized by the State of Texas and Kaufman County, and a resolution
Kate is the daughter of Keith and Annette Bell of Forney.
