Story by Michael L Morrill, Forney Messenger Sports

Forney—On Tuesday, August 25, a good Kaufman team beat our Forney Lady Rabbits in 4 games by a count of 25-21,25-14, 15-25, 25-17.

With the win, Kaufman improves to 11-3 on the season while with the loss Forney falls to 5-10.

In Game 1, Kaufman, who is a fundamentally strong team, built an early 12-6 lead before Forney, behind the solid serving of senior Remington Roberts, fought their way back into the game.

With Roberts leading the way, Forney took a brief lead in the game at 13-12. At this point in the game, Forney was hanging right with a talented Kaufman team but in the end some costly errors by Forney helped Kaufman take Game 1 by a count of 25-21.

Kaufman won Game 2 by a count of 25-14.

Then in Game 3, Forney, behind several kills by sophomore Kylie Brown and senior Stephanie Nance, triumphed in the game by a count of 25-15.
In Game 4, Kaufman bolted out to a 10-3 lead. It looked like the Lady Lions would cruise to victory, but Forney mounted one last charge. Led by the play of Remington Roberts (Good Serving), Kylie Brown (Several Kills), Stephanie Nance (Several Kills), and Nicole Briley (Good Serving and Passing), Forney got as close as 10-9 and 18-16 in the game. But the Lady Rabbits’ rally would fall short and Kaufman eventually took the game by a count of 25-17.

Next match: Friday, August 28 vs. Crandall at Forney. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p. m.
