Kaufman County, Texas, Friday August 7, 2009—Members of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and Terrell Police Department teamed up on a week long undercover operation on an illegal gambling facility in the City of Terrell, Texas.
The illegal eight liner operation was located in the 5400 block of Highway 80, and the operation had an estimated 50 machines. The investigation uncovered that the operation was paying patrons with cash for their winnings. The illegal establishment was manned by a cash attendant and a security guard.
Investigators confiscated and estimated $2,900.00 in cash and one 12 gauge shotgun. The investigative team disabled all eight liner machines.
The case is still under investigation, and investigators expect at least three arrests for organized crime, which is a state jail felony.
Sheriff David Byrnes states, “From time to time these illegal gambling activities surface in Kaufman County. We have a zero tolerance policy and will continue to take the appropriate enforcement action against them when discovered.”
