Forney ISD Presents Parent Workshop on Bullying
Press Release by Larry Coker, Director of Communications, FISD
The Forney Independent School District recently held a parent workshop on bullying at Johnson Elementary School and a number of parents with children enrolled in schools across the district attended the training. In addition, all Forney ISD elementary counselors were on hand to answer questions from individuals attending the presentation,
Cynthia Garrison, a consultant with Region 10 presented the workshop for the district. Garrison defined the various types of bullying and explained the difference between when boys bully and when girls bully.
Mrs. Garrison applauded the district’s efforts in providing a proactive approach to bullying by not only offering the parent training, but for also focusing on bullying throughout the month of October in counselor guidance lessons to students.
Parents in attendance were encouraged to participate and ask questions throughout the presentation. Individuals were able to gain a better understanding of the issues involved in bullying as well as receive information they could use at home to empower their children.
