Forney Commons - Update
Hopefully you’ve read my previous post about Forney Commons - this is an exciting new development just north of Highway 80 & west of FM-548, near where Mustang Crossing, WalMart and Lowe’s are located. The siteplan for this development includes buildings that are marked for a Best Buy, a Ross and a PetsMart, as well as an unmarked 126,000 sq. ft. space that anchors the complex that seems the perfect size of a Target or Home Depot, as well as another unmarked 120,000 sq. ft. space that I was puzzled about and guessed could be a larger, high-end grocery store.
After a bit more research and browsing through Woodmont’s website, I’ve discovered a few more possibilities…
I’ve done some more research on Woodmont, and looking at the centers they’ve built in the past, this space could also be a Kohl’s or Linens N Things. Woodmont has built a center that housed a Sams Club (although those are usually closer to 120,000 square feet), as well as a Costco. Finally, they have built a center that housed a Sports Authority sporting store. However, there’s a lot of Target stores and Home Depot stores in the properties they’ve developed in the past, as well as a lot of grocery stores, and considering the fact that despite Forney’s rapid growth there are still only two grocery stores (WalMart & Brookshires), I wouldn’t be surprised if this space had a grocery store or a Target, or both.
