This coming Monday, March 5th at 7PM the Forney ISD School Board is holding a public forum to gather input regarding calling a May election for a bond issue on a secondary facility (i.e., a second high school). I highly encourage everyone to attend. The meeting will be at the FISD Administration Building at 600 S. Bois d’Arc.

At a recent Planning & Zoning meeting, P&Z approved a change of the zoning for the land just north of the McDonald’s on the north-east side of Pinson & Highway 80; this change is to pave the way for a new, 72-room, interior-access/hallway hotel with a pool and a 1700 square foot meeting room.

Forney’s Planning & Zoning committee recently discussed a new retail development, a 0.6 acre lot west of Cancun Cantina, currently named “Plantation Plaza”. This retail space will have frontage on both the service road of Highway 80 and McGraw Street. This is on the south side of Highway 80, east of Pinson Road. A “floor store” has been mentioned as a possible tenant, but that’s all I’ve heard so far. From the looks of it (and from the space available in that area), this is a much smaller development.

Just a quick update; after discussing what may be suspicious behavior (or may just be a city employee going about his usual business, but under the watchful eye of a very alert neighbor) on our street with some of my neighbors, I realized that it would be great to add a Crime Watch section to the discussion forums.
