At a recent Planning & Zoning meeting, P&Z approved a change of the zoning for the land just north of the McDonald’s on the north-east side of Pinson & Highway 80; this change is to pave the way for a new, 72-room, interior-access/hallway hotel with a pool and a 1700 square foot meeting room.

The hotel will be a Best Western hotel, and, according to the chairman of the board for Best Western, Charles Helm, it will have rooms “larger than most” similar hotels, with high ceilings, ceiling fans, microwaves and refrigerators in each room. The original request for the land was to allow for the hotel as well as a convenience store that would sell gas. However, P&Z asked that gasoline sales be removed from the plans, and it currently sounds like the development will include just the convenience store and the hotel. No announcements have been made concerning the timeline of this project, but I’ll post if more details are released.
