Hong Kong Express Coming Soon

Well, it’s not the Taco Bell or other Mexican food take-out that everyone’s asking for these days, but there is a new fast food restaurant coming to town - Hong Kong Express will be coming soon to Shafer Plaza, in the space next to Cold Stone Creamery, near the Sonic on FM-548.

If it’s the same Hong Kong Express, it’s a take-out and delivery Chinese food restaurant that has locations in Rowlett, Allen, Richardson, North Richland Hills and more. They have a coming soon sign up on their location, but there’s no set date for a grand opening as of yet.

Discuss this new restaurant, and other new developments in Forney in the Forney discussion forums.

    That is most excellent!
I’ve been hoping for a Pei-Wei myself, but I’m more than happy to hear about Hong Kong Express.
    Thanks for the update.

A Pei-Wei would be wonderful. They just opened one not too long ago at the Firewheel shopping center in Garland…maybe once Rockwall or Forney gets a nice shopping center, we’ll get a Pei-Wei as well.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the signs and the dirt being moved off of I-30 in Rockwall? Woodmont is involved in a project there; they’re building what looks to be an outdoor/open-air type mall similar to Firewheel or Southlake Town Center. It’s on the south side of I-30, east of the Buffalo Wild Wings and Le Madeline - it’s not in Forney, but it’ll be great to have a nice shopping center within a 15 or so minute drive of Forney.

Oh, and speaking of Firewheel…if you’re not familiar with it, it’s an amazing development in Garland; I never would’ve imagined a project like that would take off so well in Garland! It’s near the current end of the George Bush Turnpike and state highway 78; once the Turnpike extends down to 80 (which, from inferring a recent Dallas Morning News article about the state of disrepair of Lawson Road, the extension of the Turnpike currently looks like it’ll cross 80 at or near Lawson Road), Firewheel will be a pretty quick drive from Forney.

If this is the same “franchise” that’s located in Richardson, I’ll never place an order there. I once considered myself a wannabe Chinese food connoisseur. The place in Richardson would rate near the bottom, if not the bottom, of all the places I’ve ever sampled. Disgusting food and building.

I’m hoping this is just an independent business that just happens to have the same name as some of these other HKE’s, because there’s no website for a central HKE.

I couldn’t find any solid confirmation one way or the other if this is a franchise, or simply several restaurants with the same name. I did find someone who had posted a review online concerning the food quality at the location in Richardson (or lack thereof), and they linked it to one of the other locations, the Allen location, I believe. So I don’t know for sure if this is just a coincidence and a common name, or if the restaurants are related. I suppose we’ll find out when the Forney location opens! In the meantime, if someone knows anyone involved in the opening of this store and wants to clear this up, I’d greatly appreciate it.
