Kaufman County Tax Office Gets Inundated with Registrar Applicants

Are you registered to Vote?

April 12th is the last day you can register to vote for the May 12, 2007 elections. If you have recently moved to Forney, April 12th is also the last day to turn in a new voter registration card to become registered to vote in Forney before the May 12th election.

Last week the Kaufman County Tax Office received calls from 21 Forney citizens requesting to be sworn in as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar. These registrars from Forney will be stationed around town this weekend handing out and accepting Voter Registration Applications.

All applications must be hand delivered or postmarked by April 12, 2007 in order for you to vote in the May election. By handing your application to a Deputy Registrar you receive a receipt that verifies you have applied without taking a chance of your application being lost in the mail. Look for a registrar in your neighborhood this weekend and become a voting citizen. This is also a great time to update your voter registration if you recently moved to Forney. To have someone come to you call Marilyn at 469-323-4077 or email ellisrd@earthlink.net.

Why are citizens of Forney taking this so seriously? Forney citizens are serious because of the growth in the town of Forney, specifically, because of the growth in our schools. By the year 2009 the current Forney High School will not be able to accommodate our students, and it takes two years to build a school. May 12th is the last chance Forney citizens have to vote to pass a bond to build a new high school by 2009.
