Welcome to Twenty Peaceful Minutes (20PM) - a community website for Forney, Texas. I just noticed that the FISD Board of Trustees selected the names of 2 elementary schools to be built, and named the 2 middle schools. I’ve been curious to see if one middle school remained “Forney Middle School” and the other was named after a person, or if there was a “North FMS” and “South FMS”. Click Read on to see what names the district chose for the schools…

Also, the Dallas Morning News Homecenter, which covers new homes, neighborhoods, etc., ran an article today entitled “Reasons to celebrate in Forney”. They make mention of Forney’s growth, which they estimate as 120% growth since 2000 and 20% annual growth in the school district. They focus on community events such as the Fourth of July fireworks and the annual Hometown Christmas, and Mayor Grooms mentions that the city would like to organize community events once a quarter, which might include a chili cook-off each fall.

Filed under: Government & Politics — Josh at 10:53 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2007

While doing some research recently on the National Arbor Day Foundation, I ran across information about the Tree City USA program. You’ve seen the signs. Mesquite has had them for the past 17 years…Greenville has for the past 12; Plano for the past 18 years; Rowlett for the past 7. There’s a whole list of cities, big and small, in Texas that have been named Tree City USA. Forney could easily meet the requirements and be named a Tree City USA - should we? Read on for more info.

Windmill Farms Developer Responds - No Legal Ground For Liens

Filed under: Forney News, Residential Real Estate — Josh at 1:59 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2007

Leman Development, Ltd., the original developer of Windmill Farms who Texas Environmental claimed last week in a public letter sent to homeowners in various portions of Windmill Farms, including Phases 1-3, owed an unpaid debt in the amount of almost $16,000, has responded by mailing a letter to all of the homeowners who received a letter from Texas Environmental.

In Leman’s response, they express their regret that Texas Environmental has “decided to escalate a private dispute over Texas Environmental’s bills into a form of economic terrorism”. Leman also asserts that Texas Environmental has no right to claim a lien against any individual homeowners lot and that Texas Environmental’s public letter may be a form of slander of title against the homeowners in Phase 3A of Windmill Farms. Read on for the entire letter from Leman, and more information…
